I have been so focused on the exciting outfits and events of the upcoming Dapper Day that I almost completely forgot about Pixar Fest!
If this is you, never fear, I have a super easy, simple, and cheap outfit idea for you!
I paid around a dollar at Wal-Mart for a few sheets of felt. Felt is such a perfect way to add Disney magic to an outfit with little effort and little cost.
I am not talented with cutting, lefty over here with no left handed scissors… Perhaps you have seen some of the intricate and gorgeous felt skirts on Instagram or pinterest and think wow! Now that is a skirt, but there is no way I could create something like that!
Oh but you can, you definitely can. This DIY was whipped up in a few hours, and it was as simple as simple can be.
You can always print shapes out and use them as guides. I used a cup for the circle on Jasmin’s dress and a popcorn bucket for mine.
After outlining and cutting out the shapes, I used pins to hold the paper cutout guide in place for the rest of my shapes, so it is easier to cut them all the same. Note that my shapes are not even close to perfect, most of the time my lines aren’t even straight! It does not have to be perfect!
The star was kinda tricky, I used my cup to outline a circle of the same size as my felt piece on a piece of paper. Then I drew a full star over the circle where I wanted it and cut out the parts I needed.
Next hot glue the star and stripe to your circle.
Lastly I hot glued some pretty ribbon around the edges to give my luxo balls a more finished look, and cover up the permanent marker.
I picked dresses in our closets I thought would match with the luxo balls and secured my felt creations to them. Jasmin’s were fastened on with safety pins, for my dress I used thread and sewed a few stitches in various spots along the edges of the luxo ball.
