My friend @danggooddisney came up with a fun challenge (#thriftstorechallenge) and invited a few gals to participate in it, including me!

The challenge was to find a A Disney outfit or bound at the thrift store instead of buying the clothes brand new, to demonstrate how easy it is to look great without spending a lot of money! We then show our completed outfits!

I picked up my dress at Goodwill for $8.00 and was thinking about doing Ariel’s pink dress, but @magicbymidnight gave me a better idea of turning this unique pink stunner into none other than Miss Charlotte La Bouff! I have to say, I am really pleased with how it came together!

After visiting a couple other thrift stores and not finding what I was searching for, I sought other options to complete this look.

Using a 60% off coupon at Jo-anns, I purchased a purple boa for $3. My hat is from the dollar store with a few added flowers I had in my collection. The shoes and little bows were purchased previous to this challenge!

My whole outfit only cost me $12!

But of course I couldn’t go to Disney without my little bounding buddy! We enjoyed a special day of strolling New Orleans with Princess Tiana and stuffing our faces with beignets!

Tiana Costume DIY:

First I took a headband from the same package I used for my bug’s life crowns, and wrapped these perfect pearl floral arrangement accents from Jo-ann’s around the headband. Then I glued them into place.

Next:

I added some white petals I cut off of a big white flower I bought also from Jo-anns.

Next:

I filled in the two gaps on both sides with smaller wire pearl strands and clipped the extras to hot glue on the bottom of the petals. I added a thin piece of felt underneath to make sure none of the hot glue would bother Jasmin’s head.

Last:

I mixed some modge podge with a little glitter and painted lightly over the petals to give it a little sparkle and also to stiffen the petals and keep them in place.

I used the flower I clipped the petals from as the finishing touch on her Tiana dress, and of course it needed glitter as well! I had one pearl leftover so I hot glued that to the middle of the flower. I then safety pinned the flower to her dress.

This bound was one of our favorite to date and we enjoyed putting the outfits together just as much as we enjoyed wearing them!

📸 All of these precious memories were captured by the lovely @pidaycosplay who was an angel to follow us around snapping like crazy so I could enjoy seeing my daughter play with Tiana!
