Little Black Dress

Everyone loves to have a reason to bust out that little black dress, I am giving you 3. You shouldn’t need a reason to look fabulous, but Halloween is a great excuse to get dressed up and really be fabulous. There is no better time of year to make that LBD relevant in your everyday Disney wear.

Most of the Disney villains wear black, most of the Halloween characters in general wear black. That means it’s easy for you to take something as basic as a black dress and get really creative with it.

I used the same Little Black Dress from my closet to Disneybound as three different Disney Villains.

First my little minion and I dressed up as one of my favorite evil duos; Jafar and Iago.

Jafar was  really easy to do, I used a red belt and added some gold touches with jewelry and shoes.

Jasmin had a simple red dress, yellow shoes and a blue feather boa from Jo-Ann’s to complete her look.

Next we did a very simple Cruella and Dalmation puppy. I used a checkered coat and red shoes I already had for my look.

Jasmin’s look was just as easy. A polka dot shirt and the headband and ribbon necklace I made for her for a Halloween costume from two years ago. Recycling at it’s finest. And isn’t she the cutest little puppy you have ever seen? No wonder Cruella wants to get her hands on those puppies so badly!

The last look was inspired by the live action Maleficent. Jasmin simply wore a pink dress for her Sleeping Beauty bound. My Maleficent was just as simple, wearing only the black dress and this cool DIY horn headband. (Instructions on how I made headband at bottom of page)

And the best part is that this is just the tip of the ice burg when it comes to the possibilities of a LBD at Halloween.

I tried really hard to go simple simple simple all month long because Halloween is a stressful enough holiday, trying to come up with, find, or make something amazing for this glorious dressing up occasion. With a family, it becomes even harder and even more expensive.

I have said this before, but with us bounders, who dress up ALL year long, it can get overwhelming. All three of these ideas are as simple as it gets. I only bought the boa and the supplies for my Maleficent headband, everything else I already had.

Maleficent Horn Headband DIY

MATERIALS:

Headband

Two foam blocks (I got mine from the dollar store in the flower section. these blocks are the ones that hold fake flowers in place in an arrangement.)

Electrical tape

DIRECTIONS:

First either print or if you run out of ink like me, or don’t have a printer, pull the image up on the internet or on word in the size that you want and trace.

Next I cut out my shape and placed it over one of my foam blocks and using a smooth edged kitchen knife, cut the shape out. Then I went around the whole thing and smoothed the edges, until it looked the way I wanted. Repeat with foam block number two.

Then I started wrapping the electrical tape around my foam pieces until I reached the tip. To give the horns a more 3-D look I used a bit of braided rope and wrapped it around the block in various spots and covered with electrical tape also, but you don’t have to do that.

I then wrapped the headband with the electrical tape.

Lastly, I hotglued the horns on either side of my headband to hold them in the place I wanted them. Then used the electrical tape across the bottom, securing the horns in place.

Have fun with these last minute Halloween outfits featuring your favorite LBD, and remember that you can bound with these outfits all year long!

I love everything about this post! I love seeing the same dress transformed into many different styles/characters, that’s one of my favorite thing about fashion is how diverse you can make one outfit with accessories! I also loved your malificent DIY! I have never Disney bounded as a villain before because i love princesses so much. But you made her so chic and elegant….. you might have inspired me to branch out more in the future, Disney villains can be really cool and unique. As always I love they matching and coordinated outfits you and your daughter always have! I can’t wait to see what other fun blog posts you will come up with in the future 💗
