From Mike Wazowski to Dopey

Instagram is a place where everyone is looking for the next big thing, the most popular new merch, and the latest creative Disney outfit. Reusing something you already wore and posted pictures in can seem like a big ‘no no’, and is sure to leave your faithful followers bored right?

Wrong. You don’t have to use something brand new, you just have to take something old and make it brand new every time you wear it.

I recently wore this green 70’s style dress for my Mike Wazowski Disney Bound, but when we heard that Snow White and ALL the seven dwarfs were going to be roaming Fantasyland, of course we had to dress for the occasion.

What do you do when you really want to dress up for a special occasion Disney Day with friends, but it’s last minute, and you have no car, no time, and no money? That is the predicament I found myself in the day before we were going to Disney to try to catch a glimpse of this rare character treat.

This dress was already on my mind since I just wore it, and is also the perfect color for Dopey! I pulled out a black belt and a piece of felt and added a few stitches and safety pinned it to my dress.

Now for the buttons. I was trashing my craft room looking for something to use. I ruled out the actual buttons I had because they were all very tiny. I was thinking about spray painting some Disney ‘I’m Celebrating’ buttons gold, but I had no spray paint.

After rummaging for a while I found these little glass jars that were filled with honey as part of a favor from a wedding we attended a while back. I liked the jars and thought they might be useful, and boy was I right!

I filled the lid with doll stuffing and hot glued a piece of felt over the top so that I could fit a safety pin in it and safety pin it to my dress.

Luckily my husband got home in time for me to make it to Jo-Ann’s before it closed. I bought a half a yard of purple tulle fabric that I used for my headband, after the coupon from the app it was $0.42!

While I was at Jo-Ann’s I went over to just look at the jewels because a Dwarf just isn’t a Dwarf without some jewels. Much to my surprise they were on sale for 60% off and I was able to get a couple of packages.

I turned my Mike Wazowski purse around and it became a Dopey purse. I didn’t want to ruin the purse, and I am all about versatility, so I hot glued the jewels onto a piece of purple felt and sewed it onto the purse. It can easily be seam ripped off of this purse if I wish to make it its own purse.

We were not lucky enough to spot Snow White and her entourage, but we had a ton of fun, and we did get to spend some time with another great princess.

It was so easy to transform this simple Dress into a completely different outfit, just by adding some completely random crazy items, some of which weren’t even crafting items.

You would be surprised what you can do with whatever you have already, sometimes we just have to be forced to sift through to find and use those things.

I cannot wait to see what you all come up with. Tag @boudningonabudget/#boundingonabudget in your versatility bounds!
