Versatility Bounds

Getting dressed up for Disneyland is one of my favorite things to do. I love outfit planning, I love to match with my daughter, and I love dressing for the occasion. So… When we want to see Minnie, we are wearing polka dots; when we want to visit Goofy, we wear blue, orange and green.   Jasmin and I went to Disney during Lunar New Year.  That day there were two extra Mulan’s running around California adventure. It’s so much fun, and makes for some great picture perfect moments!!!

Unfortunately that means those prefect pictures start and end with only one character or ride.  Every other picture you take might look a little misplaced: Mulan on Toy Story Mania, Spiderman meeting with Mickey; you get the picture. If this doesn’t bother you, then you have nothing to worry about.  But if it drive you bonkers, I have a solution to your dress up problems!

Carrying a backpack with outfit changes can be bulky and heavy. A stroller can be helpful in hauling around extra clothing, but you still have to find time for changing in between feeding, napping and diaper changing. This can sometimes be a real challenge if you actually want to have time to have fun at the parks. It can also leave the bottom of your stroller looking like this…

I have a new term for you to add to your Disney dictionary– versatility bound, two bounds in one.

I chose characters that I was excited to dress like with my daughter, Mike and Sully from Monster’s Inc. Pondering the colors, I used the base dresses we were wearing and thought of another dynamic duo that would work with the same clothing.

In the morning we headed to California Adventure Park wearing our cute and simple bounds as Mike and Sully. We rode Monsters Inc. and took some fun pictures in front of the adorable backdrop they have by the ride. I used a cardigan to complete my look as Sully, which was perfect for roaming around DCA (Disney’s California Adventure).

When the sun came out and it was too warm for things like tights and cardigans, I easily removed my cardigan, made a few quick, simple, and lightweight changes and we were transformed into…. any guesses?

That’s right, Wendy and Peter pan! Or Wendy and Tinkerbell when the weather was too chilly to remove Jasmin’s white tights. We made our way to Disneyland to play with Peter Pan and Tink.

The only changes I made to my outfit were a sock and belt exchange and a removal of my cardigan. For Jasmin’s Mike to Peter look, I removed her “punky little eyeball” made with a few circles and triangles of felt and safety pinned to her dress. I replaced the eyeball with a hat from her Peter Pan build-a-bear stuffed animal.  I bobby pinned the hat to her pigtails, then using one of my brown belts, wrapped it around her tiny waist a few times!

It took a matter of minutes to switch outfits –no bathroom needed.  The compact accessories fit nicely in a purse or small backpack, which is especially nice for you stroller-less bounders out there. For the mommy bounders, very little space is taken in the bottom of the stroller. Now you have room for more important things like extra shoes in case your feet start hurting, snacks, or those Mickey bubble blowers your kid just has to bring EVERY trip to Disney!

I have started brainstorming for more fun versatility bounds that I look forward to sharing with you in the future. Until then I would love to see the versatility bounds that you come up with, tag #boundingonabudget so I can!!!

Love, Hailee & Jasmin
